Nereus

2022
Clare Valley
Classic Sicilian combination of Shiraz and Nero d’Avola.

$53.00

The shiraz, a less common clone (known as ‘Tahbilk’) is showing greater depth of flavour and better balanced tannins as the vines age. The Grosset Nereus 2022 is once again a blend of shiraz with ten per cent nero d’avola – has bold, ripe and succulent texture that is fresh and lively, dense and powerful, with blackberry, mulberry and blackcurrant flavours in the mid-palate and a finish that is intense and long. It is generous and fleshy, ripe and full-flavoured and such delicious drinking at a young age.

Estate grown at Grosset Rockwood Vineyard in the Clare Valley (A-Grade Certified Organic and Biodynamic) the wine is matured in French oak barriques (45% new) for 18 months.

Unfined: suitable for vegans and vegetarians

Released: April 1st, 2024

The 2022 Nereus is a blend of Shiraz and Nero d'Avola and presents a juicy, supple, spicy experience in the mouth. The tannins are fine but firm, which is a great support for the fleshy fruit. Everything is working in harmony here—good wine. There are notes of black cherry, raspberry, blood orange, sarsaparilla, black cat licorice and a smattering of sumac.
